| Mathias Hecht (Sui) won the first edition of Lisboa International Triathlon in a stunning way in 3h44m31. Xavier Le Floch (Fra) managed to beat Christoph Mauch (Sui) to the finish line, performing the fastest run split of the day with a 1:09:52. Sérgio Marques (Por) was the fastest home-boy in fifth place overall.
Out of the water, it was already Mathias Hecht leading the field with Alun Woodward (Hun) right on his tail. Behind them, Manuel Coutinho (Por), Pedro Gomes (Por), Xavier Le Floch (Fra) and Christoph Mauch (Sui) were the hunter's pack. A little forward behind came the main pack where Sergio Marques (Por), Nico fitzenmaier (Ger) and Patrik Hugelshofer (Sui) stand. Into the bike course it was all Mathias Hecht. With a blistering fast 2h04 split, Hecht came into T2 with a 5' lead over Mauch and Le Floch - second and third by then. Sergio Marques had gain some time and was now in fourth with Pedro Gomes and Alun Woodward in his wing. On the run, Hech couldn't keep the fastest splits (swim and bike) and cruise to the finish line to finish 2' ahead of Le Floch and take the first prize of the 20,000€ purse.
